Skylight cleaning
What skylight cleaning with us looks like
Skylights go dark slowly. Leaves and twigs collect around the upstand, bird droppings land on the glass, and dust and pollen settle in the rain shadow where water doesn't wash them off. Because it happens over months, most people only notice how much light they have lost once the skylight is clean again.
Most skylights and roof windows on single-storey homes can be cleaned from the ground or a safe ladder position with the water-fed pole. Where they can't, we clean from the roof only where it is safe to do so, with the right access equipment, and we tell you at the quote which applies. Debris around the upstand is cleared, and the glass is brushed and rinsed with pure water.
Inside, we clean the underside of skylights and roof windows we can reach with poles and platforms, along with the light well where it is glass. Tubular skylight diffusers can be wiped. Glass roofs over pergolas and walkways are a common job too, and they are often the dirtiest glass on the property.

Why it matters
What you get
More light inside
A clean skylight lets in noticeably more light. It is the cheapest brightening a dark room can get.
Debris cleared
Leaves around the upstand hold water and block flashings. We clear them before we wash.
Pure water outside
No spots on the glass, which matters most where you see it against the sky.
Inside where reachable
The underside of skylights and roof windows within reach of our poles and platforms.

Our method
How we do it

Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy.
Step 01 of 04
Plan safe access
From the ground with the pole where possible. Roof access only where it is safe, with the right equipment.

He was professional, responsive, and delivered exactly as promised.
Step 02 of 04
Clear debris
Leaves, twigs and nests around the upstand are removed by hand so water drains away.

Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication.
Step 03 of 04
Brush and rinse
Soft brush and pure water on the glass or polycarbonate, then a final rinse.

Excellent service! Nathan is punctual and nothing is a problem.
Step 04 of 04
Inside and a check
The underside is cleaned where we can reach, and we check the light from inside.
Polycarbonate and older skylights
Polycarbonate scratches easily and goes yellow and brittle with age. We clean it with a soft brush and pure water only, with no scrapers and no solvents. Old acrylic domes that have crazed or gone cloudy right through won't come back with cleaning; we will tell you if yours is past cleaning and needs replacing.
Roof safety
We don't walk on fragile roofing, skylights, polycarbonate or old fibre cement, and we don't work on roofs in the wet or wind. If a skylight can only be reached by walking a steep or fragile roof, we tell you at the quote and suggest the safest way to have it done.

What our clients say

Nathan just completed a pressure wash of our travertine pavers under our alfresco area, around the pool and the sundeck. What an absolutely fantastic job. Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy. We will certainly be calling him back on a regular basis and can highly recommend him.
Nathan provided a reliable and professional property maintenance. Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication. Highly recommend!
Nathan did a great job washing the external sides of our house. The weatherboard was dirty and had cobwebs. Nathan went above and beyond our expectations, the house was perfectly clean and all the cobwebs were gone.

FAQs
Skylight cleaning: questions
Straight answers before you book. Can't see yours? Call Nathan on 0416 007 745.
Still have a question?
Talk to Nathan directly. He quotes and attends every job himself.
Do you need to get on the roof?
Usually not. Most skylights are cleaned from the ground or a ladder with the water-fed pole. We only go on a roof where it is safe.
Can you clean the inside of a skylight?
Yes, where it is within reach of our poles and platforms. Very high light wells may need scaffolding.
Can you clean polycarbonate roofing?
Yes, with a soft brush and pure water only. No scrapers and no solvents.
My skylight is cloudy even after cleaning. Why?
Older acrylic domes craze and go cloudy right through with UV. That is damage, and cleaning can't fix it.
Do you clear leaves around skylights?
Yes. Debris around the upstand is cleared before washing so water drains properly.
How often should skylights be cleaned?
Once or twice a year for most homes, and every three to four months under trees or near the coast.
