Solar panel cleaning
What solar panel cleaning with us looks like
Solar panels lose output when they are dirty. Dust, pollen, salt film, bird droppings and leaf litter all block light, and a few heavily soiled cells can drag down the output of a whole string. In Sydney, rain rinses off loose dust but leaves salt, droppings and the film that forms on low-tilt panels.
We clean panels with purified water and soft brushes on a water-fed pole, from the ground or a safe ladder position wherever the roof allows. No detergent, no pressure washer and no hard scrubbing, because the glass coating and the seals around the frame are what keep the panel working. Pure water dries without spots, so nothing is left to block the light.
Before we start we check the panels for cracks, hot spots you can see, loose clips and damaged cables, and we send photos of anything that needs an electrician. We don't touch the wiring or the inverter.

Why it matters
What you get
Purified water only
No detergent to leave residue, and no minerals to leave spots on the glass.
No pressure
Soft brushes and a gentle rinse. Pressure can force water past seals and damage the coating.
Usually from the ground
Most single and two-storey roofs are reached with the pole, with no foot traffic on the tiles.
Photos of anything wrong
Cracked glass, bird nests and loose clips are photographed so your installer can act.

Our method
How we do it

Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy.
Step 01 of 04
Inspect first
We look for cracks, damaged cables, loose clips and birds nesting underneath, and photograph anything we find.

He was professional, responsive, and delivered exactly as promised.
Step 02 of 04
Cool panels
We clean early or late, or let hot panels cool, because cold water on hot glass is a risk.

Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication.
Step 03 of 04
Soft brush, pure water
Each panel is brushed gently with purified water flowing through the brush head.

Excellent service! Nathan is punctual and nothing is a problem.
Step 04 of 04
Rinse and dry clear
A final pure-water rinse from the top edge down, and the panels dry without spots.
Does cleaning solar panels make a difference?
It depends on how dirty they are. Panels under trees, near the coast, near busy roads and on low-pitched roofs gather the most grime, and those are the ones where a clean shows up on the monitoring app. Panels on a steep roof away from trees and salt may only need a clean once a year or less. If you have monitoring, compare a sunny day before and after.
Check your panel warranty too. Some manufacturers specify how panels may be cleaned, and pure water with a soft brush is the method they usually recommend.
Birds under the panels
Pigeons and mynas nest in the gap under rooftop panels, and the droppings and nesting material end up on the panels and in the gutters. We can clear droppings from the panel surface as part of the clean. Proofing mesh to keep birds out is installed by solar or pest specialists, and we can tell you if it looks like you need it.

What our clients say

Nathan just completed a pressure wash of our travertine pavers under our alfresco area, around the pool and the sundeck. What an absolutely fantastic job. Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy. We will certainly be calling him back on a regular basis and can highly recommend him.
Nathan provided a reliable and professional property maintenance. Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication. Highly recommend!
Nathan did a great job washing the external sides of our house. The weatherboard was dirty and had cobwebs. Nathan went above and beyond our expectations, the house was perfectly clean and all the cobwebs were gone.

FAQs
Solar panel cleaning: questions
Straight answers before you book. Can't see yours? Call Nathan on 0416 007 745.
Still have a question?
Talk to Nathan directly. He quotes and attends every job himself.
Do you use detergent on solar panels?
No. Purified water and soft brushes only, with no pressure on the glass or seals.
Do you need to walk on the roof?
Usually not. Most panels are cleaned from the ground or a ladder with the water-fed pole.
Will cleaning void my warranty?
Pure water and soft brushes is the method most manufacturers recommend. Check your warranty documents if you are unsure.
How often should solar panels be cleaned?
Once a year for most homes, and every six months near the coast, under trees or near busy roads.
Do you need the system turned off?
We don't touch electrical parts, and cleaning doesn't need the system off. If anything looks damaged, we stop and tell you.
Can you remove bird droppings?
Yes, from the glass. Nests under panels and bird-proofing mesh are a job for a solar or pest specialist.
